HOW BEAUTIFUL ON THE MOUNTAINS ARE THE FEET OF THOSE WHO BRING GOOD NEWS, WHO PROCLAIM PEACE... (Isaiah 52,7)Peace and reconciliation marathon with the motto "Let’s run to Gospa!" is organised by the Kup Karmel association in collaboration with the athletic team Dinamo-Zrinjevac from Zagreb. This sports-recreational-pilgrim race should bring together athletes and pilgrims of different nationalities coming from diverse social environments and cultures through the manifestation that promotes traditional Christian values: peace, reconciliation, forgiving. This race should provide a symbolic encouragement to the establishment of peace and confidence in this region as well as beyond its limits. At the same time it is of crucial importance to fully comprehend the meaning of the motto of the race, i.e., "Let’s run to Gospa!". This is a simple statement about man’s inability to accomplish great things, especially peace and reconciliation, without God’s help and support. For quite some time now the words ‘Međugorje’ and ‘Our Lady’ have been synonymous with God’s call to people to reconcile and live with peace in their hearts, in harmony with themselves, with other people and with God. Therefore we considered it appropriate to set the finish of this marathon at the Shrine of the Queen of Peace in Međugorje through whose intercession this sports manifestation will be held. Furthermore, the very organisation of this marathon is our response to her proclamation issued on 25 May 2006 – ".....Little ones, seek and work hard, with all your might, so that peace prevails over your hearts and over the world.....". Further information about Međugorje, marathon and its exact route will be available on this site. We wish all the participants in this marathon, organizers as well as the runners in the marathon, the abundance of God’s blessing, so that at the end of this manifestation together with St Paul we could all joyously exclaim: ‘I have fought the fine fight, I have run the course to the finish, I have observed the faith. From this time on there is reserved for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will give me as a reward in that day, yet not only to me, but also to all those who have loved his manifestation.’ (2 Timothy 4, 7-8).
